Turn the Heat up and make these spicy prawns for your loved one or even just for yourself. Be in charge! put on your apron and be hot in the kitchen!
This one is for the Guys and Ladies off course :), it depends who can take the heat!
Spicy Mozambican Prawns with Parmesan Veggie Crisps.
500g good quality frozen Mozambican prawns, defrosted and cleaned.
45ml olive oil
3 chillies, seeded and finely chopped
5ml smoked paprika powder
30ml tomato paste
2 garlic cloves, crushed
Juice of two lemons
5ml lemon zest
Salt and crushed black pepper to taste
For the Veggie Crisps
1 big packet vegetable crisps
handful grated parmesan cheese
Mix the chillies, paprika, tomato paste, garlic, lemon juice and zest together, set aside.
Season the prawns with salt and black pepper.
Heat a large non-stick frying pan on high heat.
Add the olive oil and prawns, carefully fry for 4 minutes on each side until pink and firm.
Reduce the heat and add the chilli mixture.
Cook for a further 3-4 minutes while stirring to coat.
Serve sizzling in the pan – placed straight on a wooden board (to prevent your dining table from burning)……no need to plate these beauties up!
just garnish with some lemon wedges.
For the Veggie crisps – layer the crisps on a baking tray and sprinkle with the parmesan cheese on top.
Warm in a 180°C pre-Heated oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese is melted. Carefully remove from pan with an egg lifter.
– Reduce number of chillies if you would prefer a lesser spicy level.
– When chopping chillies, first coat your hands with olive oil to prevent a burning sensation on your hands.
– A light green salad would go down good with these.
What inspired this Recipe:
Bucket list – I would love to go to Mozambique one day and eat Mozambican prawns right next to the beach while listening to some local live music playing :).
So I figured, let me eat them at home in the mean time.
